take it in..

As life goes on and on and on, there are moments that slip by too quickly and become but a mere flashback of what was. Though that statement alone is very pessimistic, this post is not. :)

Before I get to the meat of this post, I must give background information...on the extremely dry humor and often found stupid yet hilarious show The Office, there are two characters, Jim and Pam, and they are in the few days before their wedding when Pam mentions to Jim about mental pictures....basically in the great moments of life in which a phone or camera is not present pretend to have a camera and take a photo.

I can testify that to those that do not know what you are doing it looks strange. And this leads me to the gist of the post. The other week Kissimee had a sisterhood event at a local place with those big ole jumpy bouncy things inside with blacklights. 1) If you are wondering what Kissimee is, it is a social service group of girls that can be parallel to a sorority. 2) Yes, the big ole jumpy bouncy things was lots of fun!!!! Anyways, we left the place around 11pm and was heading back to MC on I-55 passing downtown Jackson that gives a beautiful picture of the State Capitol building. Oh, it was a beauty. Late at night, only street lights and the full moon..a sight for sore eyes. As we passed by, I did the whole mental picture thing because I remembered it from The Office and found significance in its meaning and Lauren was like "Kristina, what are you doing?" and I said nothing but when she reads this she'll know what on earth I was doing.

One might think, "Really? The Mississippi Capitol building is worthy of a mental picture, Kristina?" While some of my other mental pictures are of my experiences in Europe and random breathtaking moments with friends or family...this mental picture is one of its own. Not everyday is guaranteed and you cannot take moments for granted, even moments that involve a state that you might loathe. I found myself being grateful for the fun night with my sisters, my wonderful roommate, and a country that I was blessed to be born in with the freedom's so often taken advantaged.

So..in moments of life that might take you for surprise in which you do not have a camera on you, take a mental picture.
